Yamaha R1 in Raptor or DS frame. Best bang for the buck. You can pick up a R1 motor for close to what you can sell the donor quads engine for. Everybody wants Busas for rails and sprint cars so the prices are 2 1/2 times R1s while only like a 10hp difference.

I've been thinking about taking the engine out of my Honda VTR 1000 and trying to put it in a quad. Its a 125 rear wheel hp v-twin with loads of torque, any suggestions on where to get info on something like this, or what quad should I start with, my engine is big (long) becuase its a vtwin.

A great frame for any conversion is the Polaris Scrambler...... They have lots of room ,and the frame is already very wide which is great for street-bike conversions. Also the V-force is an awesome choice cause it hasd a V-twin already in it, AND the fuel tank is already in the rear!! but you will have to totally re-do the Swing-arm assembly, becuase of the factory drive-shaft.

well if you want hp and tourqe this might be a little out of the norm but i'm working on a 350 chevy small block that i'm fitting to a polaris 500 frame , with a little cutting and welding of course, and i'll post some pics soon.

Man, that's a different approach to it, didn't think of using my VTR frame like that, I can't wait to see how it turns out. I was going to try and put my engine in a DS frame or something like that. It will have crazy power, I love these bikes. If you know anyone that wants to buy one, let me know, mine is a show bike, you can see pics on www.excesspaint.com website under items for sale. I really want to sell it to get off the street and back on the dirt. I want to buy a TRX450 or YFZ450, and I though about parting out my bike and keeping the engine to put in a quad as well. I guess it depends on is I sell it whole or not, and how much work it would be to put the engine in a quad. I will mostly be doing trail riding, but it would be awesome to know that I have one of the baddest quads when it comes time to put it on someone in a drag race.
