Apparently my pilot jet is clogged on the carb for my Mojave ( Keihin CVK). Bike won't idle with the choke off, and to keep it running you have to keep revving the throttle and it still runs like crap. All of the other jets are ok but I cannot get the pilot jet out. Is it made to be removed, surly it is. The slot for the screw driver is rounding out on the end of the jet so I cannot get it out. Not talking about the pilot screw, but the jet that is accessible from the bowl. What now?

I doubt that an Easyout is made in a size small enough to fit the opening but it might be worth checking on. If the slot isn't totally gone you might try saturating the jet head with carb cleaner or other solvent & allowing it to sit overnight, then with the proper size screwdriver, tapping it fairly hard with a light hammer & then try backing it out, repeating the process if necessary. If all else fails you may have to drill out the jet, being careful not to let the drill bit touch the valve seat.Last resort would be to order a new bowl from your dealer. If that is the option, I think I'd let them remove the pilot jet if it came installed. In that way they would be liable for damage if it too was frozen. Pehaps a drop of never seize on the threads of the new jet would prevent future seizing.

Check the exploded parts diagram in the parts catalog section of www.buykawasaki.com.

On some Keihin carburetors, the pilot jet is fixed and not meant to be replaced (ordinarily, there would be no need to replace it, as long as it can be cleaned).

Don't know about yours. Since the jet has a screwdriver slot, I'd assume it's meant to be replaceable. I'd use vise-grip pliers on the jet, or use an impact driver with a tight-fitting bit--you may even have to take a hacksaw and cut a deeper slot in the brass jet to obtain purchase. The brass jet and carb body threads are probably seized from galvanic corrosion and gasoline varnish adhesion. If you must remove the jet, find some small vise-grips or get an impact driver and a hammer; you'll be better off if you can clean it and leave it be, assuming it hasn't been boogered by overtightening the pilot screw.

Good luck.

It shows in the exploded view so it must be removable. However, it is up in a recess in the carb body so the only way to get to it is with a screw driver. Thinking of soaking the whole lower part of the carb body in cleaner to see if I can disolve the clog.

Finally got it out. A new screw driver with good edges and a few raps did the trick.
