Because the YFZ's stock head pipe is very well designed, and most copany's dont even make one because of that fact. The Dr.D slip on gives the YFZ a nice deep bark, and free's up the exhaust flow which gives you more power. Also, i dont know exactly why, im sure someone on here can tell you why, but retarding the exhaust cam one tooth does give you quite a powerboost, and some sights have step-by-step instructions on how to do it.
1) Dr-D Slip-on 230$
2)Pro-Flow with K&N or UNI ( 90$ - 120$ )
3)GYT-R Jet Kit ( 65$)
4)Cam Mod

Very good boost in power all across the board. this is the best way to spend your money on this quad. Plus, you need to do all this befor you can start modding the engine in the future, like bore kits, port and polish and so fourth.

retarding the cam puts the motor like the dirtbike motor and it does give you more power

Gives most on the top-end.
Some bottom and mid, but not much there.

Also, I would avoid the jet kit, and just buy the necessary jets/needle individually. You'll save yourself some money, and not have several jets that would be of no use to you.

Also, I agree, you probably won't see much (if any) benefit from an aftermarket header. Spend that 150-250 bucks on an aftermarket cam, intake, or suspension components (if necessary).
