Default 87'-96' engine swap

I was wondering if the 1987 warrior engine I have now will fit in a 1996 warrior. The reason for the swap is that my 87' is worn out all exept for the engine. There is a possibility that I can get a 96' for cheap. Thanks for any info.

you will need to swap the wiring harness as well, they changed connections on cdi , stator, etc.
