UNI filter in the dunes

Default UNI filter in the dunes

Im considering buying a new filter for my quad and i've heard over and over again from guys on this very site that there is now power differences between a UNI filter and a K&N the big difference is the price. Does the uni work good in the dunes with the air box lid off even though it doesn't have a screen like the K&N? Thanks.

I just don't trust K&N, anywhere! With a dry Outerwears, sand doesn't stick to the K&N, so some believe it has some benefit there. (Maybe it doesn't stick, because it goes right through???) Like I said, I just don't trust them because they are so thin and "one dimensional". They are so thin, there just isn't any backup against a disaster. It's your precious engine, so you decide for yourself.

What I run is a UNI filter from Pro Design (http://www.prodesignracing.com/main.htm) and EHS Racing lid with an Outerwears cover over the opening (http://www.ehsracing.com/).

I run the same thing as recon. K&N is great for street driving...................

My best friend sucked sand last seasion and he lost all of his compression, = (new top end). because of the uni. It was installed correctly. I should have took a picture. On his 88 trx

Default UNI filter in the dunes

Nothing is going to work if you don't oil it correctly, either UNI or K&N. I can't see a properly oiled UNI ever failing, unless it has a defect of some kind.

I use both kinds on my various wheelers in the sand. I kinda like the K&N because an outerwear keeps a lot of the stuff off of it. The Uni seems to keep stuff out of the motor, but man does a ton of sand come out when you clean it.
