How do the inline 'super coolers' work?
#1
I have an '88 Honda TRX310R and i was thinking of getting one of the Pro design super coolers. My question is, how do they work? Are they worth buying? i see that Golden West Cycle makes their own super cooler, is theirs better than pro design? Nacs magazine says it reduces the cooling system temperatures by 5-10 degrees. Thanx

The fins on the "cooler" radiate heat. Doesn't hurt, but 5 to 10 degrees may be a bit of a stretch. The bigger the diameter the better. If GWC's cooler is larger than the PD one, then yes it would be marginally better. Guess the difference would be price.

i agree w/backcountry... i would likewise caution you in that there are different diameters of coolers..obviously, the bigger the better...some coolers are about the size of a 12 ga. shot gun shell, while the others are about 1.75 times that big..just be sure what you are getting because they are a lot different..
I have a large one on my top radiator hose, but was also thinking of putting a small one on the bottom hose..anyway, they CAN NOT hurt.

They are tapered on the inside of the tube. It slows down the fluid causing the piece to get hot. As the air moving over it cools it back down. I have only one problem with them... they don't only get heated up themselves but also the hose before it.
