Need help deciding how to get more power
#1
Hey howdy.
I have a 88 TRX250R and I wanted to get a little more power from it. The bike still has a stock cylinder and piston. The only mods I have on it are FMF pipe and silencer, reed spacer and high compression head gasket.
I wanted to get the CT 310 kit, but thats too much money, and I dont know if thats good at all.
I was planing to bored the cylinder .40 over and get a Wiseco Prolite piston, and a VForce rad vavle.
I think that would give an extra 5-8 horsepower.
Does anybody know who can a real good porting job and cheap on the East Coast?
Laters.

I would recommend a good port job you don't have to go to a giant motor to be fast 250s can still haul. If your interested i have my own shop and do ATV repairs and performance mods. A full race port job would run about $250. e-mail me if interested. Also a larger bore does not give you any substancial increase in HP so I would just go with the next size larger and a Niks Pro-x piston

I had to get my 89 250r motor rebuilt this past year. I also wanted some one local to avoid shipping everything and being able to stop by for any problem.
I contacted REP in West Springfield MA. They did a terrific job on my motor. They replaced a ton of stuff (seals etc) bored the motor, ported the cylinder, modded the piston and installed the V-Force reeds.
At the next race, there was quite a few people in my class that were quite upset. That thing just plain flies. Holeshots are not a problem any more.
Give them a call. One guy is the motor guy and the other is the suspension one. They are also a authorized TCS repair place.
