can u burn out a cam?

the shop wont fix my quad cuz it has 2 much rong with it. but one thing they sid is that i burnt out my cam shaft cuz they sid i must hav ran it low on oli to long. but i actuly have the oil tank over filled. i never heard of burning a cam up. so waz up how did i burn up the cam. or what happend to it. its still drive able. its a 400ex 100% stock engine except for the clutch.

running to much oil in any engine causes the oil to foam or bubble, thus reducing any lubricating qualities.
