NON-COUNTERBALENCED ENGINES !!!
#1
What's the deal with non-counterbalenced engines. I hear that they will make your frame crack. What I think is weird is: If they dont mess up the frame on a dirt bike why would they mess it up on a four wheeler ??? Also does this apply to 2-strokes only ???

the frame has to be made specifically for the motor, specific types of engine mounts have to be used. You can't just stick a cr500 motor in a 250r frae and expect i to work perfect, my friend had a custom frame built by Laegers to use a kx500 motor, hes had it for 2 years and no cracks yet, you just have to do it right and dont cut corners, the vibration is a bit much if your not used to it, but the power more than makes up for it!

Because a bike frame is lighter, the vibration tranfers through the whole frame.
The vibration can be reduced by having the rotating assembly balanced.
www.4x4tuff.com makes motors with balanced billet cranks. They do not have counter balancers, but can be used in ATVs without vibration problems.
