put the engine together this weekend. got it fired up and put a few heat cycles through it. this is a rev monster, just blipping the throttle sends it soaring. sent the wife clear to bakersfield to pick up the cylinder, piston, pipe and head. i also installed the hrc kit on the wifes ride. i had her order up a pipe and filter while she was at sparks. she got to check out the shop and get her picture taken with the man himself while she waited on the last little bit of porting. lucky girl, i had to work.

as far as i know they will do just about anything that would be beneficial to the performance they're selling. they've found the most power using megaphone mufflers with 2-1 head pipes. just look and see what the really fast bikes are running. i would think that on a long stroke motor like the 4hun that the megaphone short can would be best for top end drag applications. that is of course if the rest of the motor is adequet.

also for an update.... the bike ran great. went threw a clutch the first five minutes running(expected), it stomped on anything i ran it against.....a duncan racing built trx510, an esr built 330r, a z400 on nitrous, an endless list of yfz's, and a few drag banshee's.the only thing that i could'nt pull on was a trinity built 686 raptor on nitrous. i'm not sure if he was hitting it or not but in the proccess of racing him i popped a head gasket and that was it for the last day of racing. i learned that i deffinately need a swinger and also some suspension work. all in all it was worth every penny.

OK, so I blew 6 months of dust off this thread.
I have an 04 450. I am stuck between an athena 480 or a 470. One is lower compression and bigger water jackets. The other is removing material from the stock cylinder. How has that high compression engine held up, for the last 6 months?

we had a problem with the head gasket until we lapped in the clinder to the head , have'nt popped on since. i think i'm going with another piston/cylinder (480) or maybe send this one out for a replate and rings. it just does'nt feel like the same build it was before the head gasket issue.
