400ex shocks on my 300ex?
#2
I think they will fit on the 300ex. They are worth a try because they are probablly stronger, but they will raise up the front end a little more. Just dont put wheel spacers on with the stock 300ex shocks, my friend did and broke both of his shocks. The shop said that the wheel spacers are what did it.

To get the most out of the 400ex shocks, you should bolt 400ex a arms in place of the stock ones, they bolt right in,widen your front end out for better handling, and give you more travel from the longer shocks. You will need to either buy a top shock mount kit,or cut the old ones and weld them to a higher spot on the frame. This is to keep the front end geometry the same so it won't look or handle funny. There are often kits for this on ebay, as well as the 400ex a arms, for decent prices. With the a arms and shocks, it is like a different quad, soaks up twice the bumps the stockers did, and corners a lot better. I also put 1" wheel spacers in the back to keep the wheels spaced out the same, and to top it all off, put a 2001 Raptor shock on the back, way better damping and rebound control than the stock, but you need to have a longer resivoir hose put on to get it to mount to the frame. A Warrior shock would also work, and has a longer res hose to work with. Depending on where you find the parts, this all can be done for a couple hundred bucks, way cheaper than buying aftermarket parts, and will make that 300ex handle like a racer.

400ex shocks are 16" and yours are 13". theres a kit that this guys sells on ebay all the time that widens the quad +2 on each side and new upper brackets to acommodate the 400ex shocks, my bro did it to his 250x and it worked great

does the kit add 3 inches to my ride hieght? or does the kit make up for an inch or 2?

With the wider a arms, the shocks sit more at an angle, so even though you gain a lot of travel, you only add an inch or so to the ride height, that's why it makes it handle so good, not high and tippy, just wider.
