CD Player

umm, here's a list of the basic issues
1. you need a waterproof shockproof reciever (good luck finding that)
2. you need waterproof speakers and encosures (maybe some outdoor house speakers, wouldn't that look pimp)
3. you'd need it cranked up pretty damn loud to hear it over the sound of the engine and noise from wind, etc, especially if you have enough common sense to wear a helmet when you ride
4. you'd have to find somewhere to mount all the equipment where it wouldn't get damaged from all the debris you encounter on the trails, and where it wouldn't get smashed in the event of a rollover
If listening to music is a necessity while you're riding, it just seems like a portable mp3 player and some clip-on sport headphones would be less expensive, less "goofy looking", and just a simpler, easier to setup and use method.

The dude just wants to plug a CD into the quad so he dosen't have to deal with batteries. Same deal with an MP3.

I'd assume that if he was worrying about dragging the electrical system down, he was planning on using something a little bigger than a portable cd player. Maybe it's just me, but it seems too obvious that something that runs on 2 AA batteries wouldn't drag down a 12 volt lead acid battery that's constantly charging.

Actually Recon was not too far off base with the exception of the fact that I wasnt worried about listening to music while riding, but more the fact that we like to listen to music sometimes when we take breaks to eat and such. I appreciate the response and the more I think about it, the more sense you make. Mounting a CD player is a little much trouble for what small benefit we would recieve from it. Guess it is good sometimes to bounce ideas off of other people to see that maybe the idea might not have been so good to begin with...thanks...
