Default Warrior Piping

What's up fellas, I'm a newbie to the forum so please bare with me. I've got a '99 Warrior with an FMF Megamax slip-on w/o the silencer plates at the tip, it's a lil loud for my taste and my neighbors. I'm lookin' to get the FMF powerbomb header pipe coupled with either the FMF Powercore 4 exhaust or the FMF Q. I wanna tone down the noise level on this thing, and just wanted to know which exhaust would be quieter? Also, are there any other mods I can do to this relic to speed it up a bit w/o dropping to much coin? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. TIA

The fmf q will be quieter, but one of my buddies has the powerbomb header and powercore 4 on his warrior and the sound output is reasonably quiet. He rides in and around his development, and nobody really complains. It's only half as loud as an hmf, mine sounds like sasquatch coming though the woods even half a mile away. As for power, it depends on how much you're willing to spend, but a high compression piston, some moderate porting, and a 430 cam does wonders for power.

from what i hear (i have no personal experiece with this but) many people actually lose power with the "Q" system, so you may want to go a different direction for that.

Thanks for the replies, how do you think the HMF Sport series with the quiet core will be? I might just go that route with the P.B. header. I might just do something with the air intake to improve the performance...should i rejet after that?

The HMF will probably give better power gains than the fmf silencers, even with the quiet core installed, but I can't say for sure how loud it will be. I know without the quiet core mine is over 100db's, so taking it down to the 96-98 they claim is probably a big difference.

You can gain as much power from opening up the intake as you can with the exhaust. If you have $100 to spare you can get a clamp on filter kit and remove the airbox, of if you want to save a little money, you can modify the airbox like I did. If you click on the link in my signature there's a picture of my airbox in there.

How many discs are you running? Can't you just take some discs out to quiet it down a bit.

They do make quiet cores for the megamax, and putting less discs on will quiet it down a good bit. I have a quiet core in my shed for a megamax 2. I don't know if it's the same as the one for the megamax, but if you can find out that it works, i'd sell it for cheap. I played around with it on my recon's megamax 2, and with the QC and 4 discs it was quiet like a golf cart.

as for the pipe i woould get a white bros s-bend pipe. with all the disks its only 96dbs and you can ajust the noise out put by taking disks out.

the white bros e2 pipe is 96dbs too but cant make it any quieter than that.

suppertrapp makes a pipe too that runns disks like the e-series pipe.

ct racing runns disks too which you can take out. with the ct pipe if you run 6 discs your at 93dbs.

also run a k&N air filter. and no air box lid. also you could cut the air box off and just leave the front of it on for more power like this http://teamxracing.cjb.net/index.php...post&id=780840

just cut your air box so it looks like that metal bracket in the pic.
