The aftermarket exhaust will "silence" (somewhat) the exhaust noise. In other words, a silencer is a muffler.
Most people buy aftermerket exhaust systems for better air flow (more power). To accomplish this, the muffler must be less restrictive, which in turn makes them louder than stock mufflers.

I asked this in another thread with no replies, maybe one of you can enlighten me...
I ride (mostly) on private land where the owner won't put up with loud pipes.
Two questions...I've seen the db ratings on some pipes w/silencers, Big-gun is the quietest I've seen. Anyone have this pipe on a 300ex? Not sure how drastic a 10+ db difference is in real world.
Also, I read the performance boost isn't that much on this quad vs. cost. I don't ride/race at a track,is it worth it?
