No, not at all. Usually the opposite.

The aftermarket exhaust will "silence" (somewhat) the exhaust noise. In other words, a silencer is a muffler.

Most people buy aftermerket exhaust systems for better air flow (more power). To accomplish this, the muffler must be less restrictive, which in turn makes them louder than stock mufflers.

A stock atv will be about 89 decibles.
The HMF Utility Series with the quiet core, is 96 to 97 decibles.
The HMF Utility Series without the quiet core, is 105 to 110 decibles.

Default exhaust question?

I asked this in another thread with no replies, maybe one of you can enlighten me...
I ride (mostly) on private land where the owner won't put up with loud pipes.
Two questions...I've seen the db ratings on some pipes w/silencers, Big-gun is the quietest I've seen. Anyone have this pipe on a 300ex? Not sure how drastic a 10+ db difference is in real world.
Also, I read the performance boost isn't that much on this quad vs. cost. I don't ride/race at a track,is it worth it?
