Hey brokemybanshee, what's up? All these pictures & talk of your '88 FZR 600... That's not what you have. You have a FZR 400, not a 600. The FZR 600 didn't come out until '89. Yes, a 600 motor can be put into the 400 chassis, but I see that you still have the stock 400 exhaust. The hybrid would require an aftermarket/custom exhaust. I guess that I'm just writing this because it seems kind of messed up that you are saying that you have something that you don't.

Sorry if I was offensive, I thought that you were trying to scam people, telling them that it was a 600, sounds like you're the one who got scammed. An '89 600, the first year of the FZR 600.. had a 3 & 1/2" rear rim with a 130 tire. All 400's & '90 or newer 600's came with a 4" rim & a 140 tire. The 600 has roound intake tubes that route from the front of the fairing abouve the headlights, back through the fairing towards the carbs. The 400 had a redline of I believe 14,000. The 600's redline is 11,500 I believe. The 400 has an aluminum frame, while the 600 has a painted steel frame to look like aluminum. I believe that the 400's motor was painted black, the 600's are silver. Dimensions, the 400 has a swingarm only 1" shorter than the 600 & 1 less degree of rake in the fork, so they'll look about the same size. Sorry for getting down on you, I used to be hard core into sport bikes, I've owned many... including a '89 FZR 600. In '88 Yamaha's 600 was called FZ, not FZR. It was air cooled, not liquid cooled liek your '88 400 or a '89 FZR600. You were lyed to when you bought your bike.
