I have a 400EX and I was wondering if you think that you can put a rev kit on a stock 400EX? I would like to put it on becuase I want just enough top end to get by the rest of the stock 400's around and don't want to lose bottom end like you do with sprockets. I don't want a pipe either becuase of the noise and I want them all to think that it is stock.

Steven,
You might want to try a higher compression piston. This does great things for the bottom end of the powerband which should get you off the line quicker than any stock 400. A performance cam for a stock engine would do wonders too. I'm not sure putting on a Rev kit is the best idea. Why abuse the engine unless you are racing. Check with RCR, talk with Rick Ritter and tell him what you want to do. He will give you some great suggestions. You can find his contact information at www.rittercycle.com.
Hope this helps, Scott.

Your Idea sounds valid, but in reality you will only be faster on a flat road, side by side, tapped in 5th. Until your motor explodes.
Another theory: You could pump up your tires to about 10psi, thereby making the circumference slightly larger, which in turn, would increase your top speed. The tighter rubber would also provide less resistance, so you could go faster easier.
If you just keep riding as much as you can, even more than your riding buddies, you will build the skill it takes to always go faster than they do (in most situations). Regardless of the mods they have.

White Brothers makes a rev kit for the 400ex which increases the acceleration, torque, and rpm. The stock rpm is 9000. When you install the kit it will be 10,100. The kit costs $110.95. You can buy it at your nearest White Brothers dealer or call them at (714) 692-3404. Dirtwheels has tested this product for months and say they havnt had any problems. You can read about this product in May 1999 issue of dirtwheels. You should be able to find Dirtwheels at your nearest Wal-Mart or book store. Or call toll free at 1-800-767-0345.
