#1
I need some help here please. I have a lt250r and it keeps fouling plugs,.. i dont think my gas is to rich.. but the plug comes out all oily. I mix it 40:1 and still had the problems. I use YamaLubeR oil i dont know whats wrong with it.. i know it fouls a plug 1 or 2 times a day.. is there a way to prevent it, how do u know if you have the right mixture.. is there a way to check it??
Thanks In advance.

An oily looking plug is typically the sign of a motor that is running too rich. What this means is that the carb main jet is too large, not that you are running too much 2 stroke oil. An oil ratio of 32:1 seems to work well with most machines. Decrease main jet sizes unitl your plug runs a medium brown to light tan color.
If you are uncomfortable making these adjustments then I woudl recommend taking the machine to a reputable motorcycle shop and have them check it out.

sounds too me like you may have a leak in your seal. I had this problem with my 250R ATC about 8 years ago. No matter what I did the plugs kept fouling. Turned out to be that the seal between the cylinder and the tranny was leaking tranny oil into the head. Unfortunatly the only way to repair it is to do a teardown, split the cases and replace the seal. The cause of this problem is letting the bike sit too long with out starting it up. The gaskets dry out and become brittle.

I had the same problem I went down one jet size and my Suzuki dealer told me to use Bel Ray synthetic oil he said Suzuki's run better on it and it is only 50 cents more a quart more than the regular oil

Yeah, but the thing is, this only started happening when i started running yamalube.. could that be the prob?? plus i dont know what brand my carb is, its not stock, and it doesnt say on it anywhere.... so i wouldnt know what kind of jet to get. the main jet..?? whats that, the one the gas line goes into. Before i used yamalube i used kmart oil and i ran perfect.... i just figured higher grade oil = better for engine.. was i wrong???

Chris, If the problem started after you switched to yamalube then I would try changing to a different brand(thats just what I would do). As far as K-mart brand oil I Do not know much about it but I wouldnt ru it in my bike. I had a similair problem when I was running Maxima premix oil, after I switched to Power Plus I didnt have the problem anymore. I would strongly recommend having the jetting checked either by yourself or a Shop. When jetting my mqchine I want the plug to have a chocalate colored look to it, not oily, just chocolate colored. Start with the easyiest thing first then go on to the next one. Hope it helps.....Herbert
