I have never built a Honda eng, but when I built my Yamaha last winter I had to remove the crank. On the Yamaha, the clutch side of the case is a slip-fit and the ign side of the case is press fit. How I removed it on mine was took a puller tool, I dont know the specific name of it but its made by snap-on, it looks sorta like a steering wheel puller. It works by taking the long bar section of the tool with slots at the ends and fasten that down on the ign side of the case with two bolts. (I had to buy longer bolts and screwed them into the holes for the stator) Now since part
of the tool is fastened down, crank the large bolt in the center of the puller and when it makes contact with the tip of the crank it will be pushed out of the case since the other part of the puller is secured with the bolts in the holes for the stator. I'm assuming your gonna install new main bearings, those have to be pressed in the cases also. For the price of a rod and lower rod bearing kit(I spent about $80 for a Wiseco hot rod kit) it may be a good idea to replace that as well since it will be apart. When the crank is taken apart to install a new rod. it'll have to be trued to specs. this is something that I let my local Honda dealer do since they have all the equipment. I bought most of my parts from them so when they rebuilt my crank, they didn't charge me anything to press the new bearings into the case or press the crank into the L side case half. Hope this helps, check out my web site www.mojave-atv-zone.com and you'll see the Yamaha I built last winter. Take care, Bryan
