Default !!! Please help,yfz 450 question!!!

I recently removed the spark arrestor from my stock exhaust, will this do any damage to my bike????? Also,
Is there any way to adjust the stock carb. so that it doesn't pop when i let off the gas???? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

removing the spark arrestor won't hurt your motor however it will increase the exhaust flow resulting in your motor pushing more air. it could make your motor run lean resulting in a backfire condition when you let off the throttle and could cause overheating and premature wear on your motor. I would jet up your main jet 2 sizes and see if your bike runs cooler and stops backfireing. If you upgraded your fillter or running air box lid off I would increase jet sizes even more.

True, you probably should go up at least one size on your main jet. Popping during decel/off throttle conditions is probably due to a lean pilot circuit though. Try adjusting the fuel screw, now is a good time to spend $20.00 and buy an aftermarket one. Bottom the screw out and then turn it out noting the idle speed. If you need to go out more than 3 turns to get the idle to raise, go up one size on the pilot and start over. This is much easier with an aftermarket screw, as the stocker is soft brass and you really need a special screwdriver to turn it. It is easy to wreck the screw head though, and you can't see what you are doing if the engine is running. The tool is about the same price as the fuel screw.
