I bent the frame on my 86 250r this weekend. Was wondering if an aftermarket is that much better then me buying a used one. $400.00 vs. $3500.00. I'm in canada.

A used 250R frame isn't quite as good as an aftermarket. But the
price is right, and remember it is a Honda frame, so it can stand up to quite a bit of thrashing.

Depends on what you're using the quad for!

If it's just a fun trail bike, I'd go for the $400 one, definitely.

If you're racing, the aftermarket chassis will definitely last longer and give you more options for suspension setups.

Also, how did it get bent? If it was something really weird, like someone running into you -- I'd say the stock frame will be okay. But if you bent it jumping -- it'll probably happen again!

I actually bent it from running into someone. Not my fault however. The front of the frame where the A-arms attach is out probably 4+ inches to the left. An extremely bad collision. My Wheel also was damaged beyond repair. Tire had atleast a 5+" hole blowen in the sidewall. The banshee that was invloved was a brand new 99, and now need's a new axle.

Regardless, I don't race, however daily track/trail riding is what I mostly do. I think i'm going to go with the $400.00 option and possibly get the frame reinforced. Can anyone point me to a good shop for frame work? I can't justify $4000.00 canadian on an afermarket. If I happen to bend another, I have a few $400.00 chances left before i hit $4000.00. =p

I am however planning on putting aftermarket swingarm and a-arm's on. As well, a modified 250r motor will be going in, most likely a 350 or trinity's 400 stroker conversion.

Regardless, opinion's are always welcome. =p

If I were you I would have it straightened
I bent the frame, and axle on my Banshee,I fixed in myself, and have not had any trouble at all since.
Oh I hit a tree with the right back wheel on ice at a high rate of speed, glad to be still alive.
Oh did I forget to mention, Im a bodyman, and do side work!

From what I understand, you can get a frame from Honda for around 1K. You pretty much have to paint it yourself due to lack of the quality from Honda. This info came from a local dealer here in AZ and is about 2yrs old.

Intersting,
You ran into the rear of someone else, but it is not your fault? Sounds like you were riding to close the person i front of you.
