I recently did an airbox mod and added an HMF slip on to my 1999 Warrior. I jetted it with a 150 main at first but my plugs were black so I went back to the 145. This picture is after a good 1.5hrs of riding. The tip is brown but the rest is black. Is this acceptable? Kinda weird that I did not have to jet isn't it?

 

That ring looks more gray in the picture but it is black. The tip is black right until the curve and then it turns brown also.

 

mbogosia it look pretty close to me , 1.5 hrs here's what i would do get a can of Seafoam ( It work's on 2 and 4 stroke engine's ) and add some to your gas tank it has instruction's on the can to give you the proper mix ratio , then i would run it some more and keep checking the plug at about the same time ; 1.5 hrs take a pic. then go another 1.5 hrs and take another pic. ! Then post the pic's on here again so the expert's on here ( i'm not included ) can see them at 3 hrs then at 3.5 hrs afther it's burn't some of the seafoam through the combustion chamber ! You can get the Seafoam from most auto parts stores , i bought a can about a month ago at O'Reillys Auto parts for $5.99 + tax , ( it's gone up $1.00 since the last time i bought a can ) try to mix it up the best you if you have the tank neary full you'll need to shake it up pretty good to get it mixed good ; but like i said it has mixing instruction's on the can ! THe Seafoam is a fuel cleaner/stabilizer ti clean's the entire fuel system and also the combustion chamber as well , if there's any carbon buildup in the combustion chamber this stuff will clean it out ; then you can be sure to get a better plug check on your jetting !

DVXDUDE thank's for the site , it look's like something i can use for myself and a few friend's that ride in our group ; and there are only me and my younger brother who seem's not afraid to get our hand's dirty when it come any wrenching on the quad's for the simplest task as servicing on our quad's ! And after over 20 yrs in the small engine industry , diabete's have taken a toll on the eye's ; they're just not what they use to be ! Out of 6 younger brother's only 4 are willing , but only 2 beside's myself really seem to care to try ! Ever since i started my own shop after losing both leg's below the knee's in 1975 and getting soaked by every auto repair shop ; to lawn and garden shop's i desided i had enough being ripped off on part's and labor ! I desided to go to tch school that the state was kind enough to pay for the schooling to get started ; and was able to at least get foctory certification in the lawn and garden industry ! But i was still getting royal shaft on auto repair , so i was forsed start doing my own auto repair's ; i just wish i could've gotten my brother's to at least try ! But only 2 finally decided they would at least work part time , really only half time working for themselves and the other half in a 7 to 3 job in the carpet industry , and week end's and what time they could squeeze in small engine service and repair ; and at last they have their home's and are better off now than they were when i finally got them to give it a try ! It's hard for me to keep up with all the electronic's , there's everywhere now even in the lawn and garden part of the industry ; and i'm no longer able to run my own shop but i;m kept busy just keeping up with my equipment my mom's and sister's and their family keep me pleaty busy ! I guess i could get more than enough work to keep a crew of at least 4 or 5 busy ; but i've let all my shop sace get used for storeage for my toy's ! I don't know why i call them toy's really when you get over ten thousand into something i don't classifi it a toy ; bit i guess to some who could call them toy's, well anyway i keep busy doing as much as i can ! And my mom turned 76yrs old feb of 2007 and her health is good , except for a scare in 2003 breast cancer she let it go for almost 10 yrs untill we had to rush her to the emergency room at the local hospital ! She had to have emergency surgery they had remove her left breast , but they got it all and she has been clean for over four yrs ; her last check up was a month ago ; and she's fine the lord was with her and i pray she out live's me God willing ! Sorry for the side track , but again thank's for site DVXDUDE ; that's what keep's me on the forums as much as possible ! I'm not into racing so i don't keep up with this part of the forums , but if i do run across a post and remember seeing something i try to find out when and where i saw it ; or at least try to pass it along to those of you that can help !
