A friend of mine has a Blaster. We were riding the other day and he heard a noise from the engine. We got back to the trucks and took a closer look. Nothing was visably wrong. With the Quad not running we push it forward a little, hearing a aweful noise coming from the rear of the trans. Like a whole lot of metal scraping. But i was definitly gear differently the the speed we were pushing it forward. Sounded like it was spinning 3-4 times as fast. The clutch seems to work fine, It engages and disengages fine. He had to ride it about 1.5 miles to the trucks. And he said there was NO noticable difference in the clutch. Just the noise. It also feels like it wants to move when running in neutral.
Can anyone help. I hope this is enough info to work with. Please let me now if you need more .

Thanks ....
Jason

Any grinding noise in any quad, is a sign that they tranny needs to be taken apart . I would hull it to your dealer, or if you plan to do it yourself, get a service manual.

Hopefully it's something simple, but you would be able to tell until you take it apart.

yfs200.. thanks for your advice. we do plan on doing it ourselves, and we do have a manual.
I was hoping for some solid info on what it could be. I knew it had to be takin apart. Was hoping to get some info on what it may be. It almost sounds like a bearing to me, but can't say for sure !!

Thanks

I really don't know. Mines an '89 and I have never had any tranny problems. Your best bet is to get the rear wheels off the ground and remove the right side clutch cover (need to drain the oil). Pull the plug and spin the engine over by hand and listen. You may want to pull off the clutch gear and spin everything by hand. The counterbalancer can eat a bearing, so pay close attention to it.
