I think this should do it....If you buy one...let us know how it works...They say it is for watercraft.

I got one for my Wolverine but its made by differnt company (Sentec). Works great, and is accurate. Shows total hrs, and RPM. No batteries either. Just wrap the wire around plug wire. I stripped the insulation off of the end of the tach wire, wrapped the copper wire around the plug wire, then coated the wrapped part in black silicone to keep it protected and secured. Go to www.jackssmallengines.com to order online. About $35.00

Boomer, proving "Great Minds Follow The Same Channels," I unleashed my Web browser on Briggs & Stratton (got that, Max6X6?), found a dealer near me, and bought a SenDEC tach/hour meter for $ 39.95; designed for
one- or two-cylinder 4-stroke engines.
Glad to hear yours works well, Boomer; installation (from the instructions) appears within the "falling off a log" difficulty level; I'd install it now, but Man! It's cold!
