300ex Top end nose

I have a 2000 model 300ex and when I get to the top end it make a soft tapping or pinging nose I run 93 octange what could be the problem?

I to have a 2000 model 300 ex and its probably normal because mine does it to. It has been doing it since the day I bought it.

you guys might be hitting the rev limiter, put it in reverese where there is a lot of room and back up to beat hell you will find the reverse rev limiter, if it sounds the same that's it.
