Reworked 300ex motor in 400ex frame?
#1
I have a 300ex that has had substantial amount of engine work done to it. I am very content with its power, but would now like to concentrate on its overall ride and handling. From every review I've read, articles say the 400ex frame/chassis is far superior to the 300ex, and lighter. Therefore, I was wondering if it would be possible to put my reworked 300ex motor in a 400ex frame?
Would I have to make any fabrications for it to mount? Also, how many parts from my 300ex would be interchangeable with the 400ex frame? Correct me if I am wrong, but this is what I can think of off hand that might need to be replaced with 400ex parts:
- front shocks
- gas tank
- all plastic and seat
I'm hoping I would be able to use the swingarm, a-arms, axle, rear shock, foot pegs, etc. from my 300ex on the 400ex frame. This would allow me to upgrade the chassis over time, as money became available. Any help and insights would greatly be appreciated. I am looking for a cost effective way to get the most out of my quad without buying a brand new quad.
Thanks,
Jeff
