Default Temperature Guage for 250R

Hi, I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on the temperature guages for a 2-stoke motor. It's been 10 yrs. since I've raced and I'd never seen one. Most of the 250R's that I've seen lately have a temperature guage.

Do you think a temp. guage is really helpful/necessary or is it just a money making gadget. My 250R is a racing quad...I never had any problems with it overheating in the past.

There is your answer.

Gauges are to monitor for problems. In your years and years of riding if you did not have a problem with heat, why worry about it now?

If your were messing around with different timing or fuel my answer would be different.

I have seen some on the 250rs and the 500s that they run in racing karts. They one that my engine dude runs splices right into the hose being the engine is beside him and the radiator is tucked above his feet. I can get more info where he gets them if you want.
