Brad, I was talking with Ken at Rocky Ridge and he said that he has the spacer to raise the tank up about 1/4 inch after you reshape the bottom. Thanks for pointing me to this forum. It has raised a lot of questions for me that I never thought about. What is the oil cooler they have used. I was wondering if there was a difference in the 85 to 86 engines. Is the difference that big of a deal. Have you thought about using the 350X swing arm in place of the 250R?

Thanks for telling me about the spacer from Rocky Ridge. Ken did not inform me about it. I'm not exactly sure about the oversize oil cooler, but I have heard that a volkswagen cooler may work and not be too big. One thing that I have been concerned about using a larger oil cooler is Oil pressure. I wouldn't want to go too big because that would mean the oil would have to flow further because of having to go through more pipes in the cooler itself. I'm not 100% sure if the oil pump would be stong enough.
I have never though about using the 350x swingarm. I really don't think that it work very well. Mainly due to the fact that the 350x swingarm has no linkage so the 250x shock would also be needed and the travel on it isn't as good as the R shock.

first off i'm a pro metal fabricator.i started with a dg system because thats about all that available for a 350x these days and it came with the donor bike i bought.it takes alot of cutting and welding to make one fit.you must either mod the right frame in front of the engine or shorten the head pipes where they attach to the engine so there is about half an inch of clearance. if you have an exhaust system i good shape already and are a very good welder go ahead and build your own system. dg will sell you a head pipe direct for around $50.00 it's pretty big and i recomend shortening it at the head so when you mod your engine it will rev better, and with the size of the primary tubes will work on as wild or large an engine you want to build. other wise powroll is the only one who builds and stocks pipes i think they're $330.00. by the way after i got my dg system done and ran it i cut the silincer? off where it attaches to the megaphone and took an old suppertrapp and put in it's place, so i could hear myself think when i ride it.
