Been wanting a quad for a while now, finally found a good price on one, but it was in non cranking condition. Motor was hydro locke when I got it, kid sunk it pretty bad, and looks like it had been ridden hard and put away wet, salty wet at that. Motor is freed up, spun over good, but then started looking at electical, 80 % of the connectors are coroded, the other 20 % are the ones in the good weather packs. so I have a complete harness onthe way, and a few other items. I amy also need the ecm/ ecu for the bike as well, not sure yet as I just got the service manual and need to test pin by pin. the machine has over 2500 miles on it, but did have some pretty nice upgrades done to it, enkal shocks, full surround bumper, piaa lights, light mod. I have been looking for three days straight now and can not figure out if there is a good electronics upgrade for the motor for more power, or bigger injecotrs for more fuel . I see a lot of exhausts, but not sure what to go with if I do get it running soon I would like to make some upgrades. if it takes me a lot more fixing I will have to hold off on the mods. Any specific mods to look at, what have you had luck with and what is pure junk ? looks like a great site with lots of info, thanks for any an all help !

Doesn't look that bad from the pic, popos do pretty good around water,it might not be as bad as you think... hydro locking a motor can do severe engine damage...BUT if it was truly sunk in salt water that may be the least of your worries..and if it was hopefully it was fairly recent ? Just from looking that one pic I'd say it hasn't been in saltwater,and if it has it wasn't long ago...If it was relly submerged in salt water the best thing you can do is immediately flush it with fresh water at a minimum...basically wash it down fire hose style..anything that got salt water in it needs to be disassembled and cleaned thoroughly with fresh water to get the salt out/off....a machine filled with fresh water no matter how nasty is fairly easy to salvage..if it was truly in salt water it will take someone who knows wht they are doing otherwise it will be junk real quick...

 

well talked to the dealer today, mo parts yet, leaves only tomorrow to hope for, then its stretched out to next week, I hate waitn for parts, sux that no one keeps stuff on a shelf anymore. seen a few performance things around, just not a lot out there I guess. well at least I got a lot of folks to look at this thread, thanks so far to those that replied. seems like a good site, hope to get more ideas soon.

well here's a wrench in the works, got the parts today, throttle assembly and cable were wrong, I need the one with the three way selector, so what arrives, the two way selector, no turf option....... just got doen with return dept and new parts are again on the way, this time confirmed with vin number from quad. Sooooooooo, who can point me towards some performance stuff. atv galaxy seems to have a few parts, can anyone give any input on any of the stuff here : http://www.atvgalaxy.com/index.php?cPath=284_27_135 good, bad, indifferent....... looking for a bit of grunt to go with this beast, and a bit more performance is always welcome. I joined up here based on it being the best forum for quads, lets see what ya got for suggestions.
