When I got it the other day I was running Castor 927 and I loved that smell. He told me to mix 16 ounces of it to 4 gallons of gas. Is that a good mix ratio? I want long life out of this Banshee above all, but performance is a plus. My main concern is that he charges over $7 for 16 ounces of that stuff. Is there somewhere online I can order it cheaper? Is that good oil to run? Thanks for all the help and suggestions ahead of time.

I have been running Yamalube @ 32:1 since '94 and am still running the original topend with 160 psi (coolhead 19cc domes at 1675 altitude). My 2 brothers in law have had the same results in their '97 and '95 Banshees.

From Halloween to Easter I ride once a month for 2 to 3 days at a time at Glamis. In the off season I ride every other weekend (usually Sunday) for a couple of hours in the deserts and washes around Phoenix. How about you?

I have had great luck with Power Plus Castor/Synthetic at 40 to 1.

The reason I asked is because are runnin' the same top-end since '94. I usually ride most of the day on Sundays...and every other chance I can slip off from home. Catcha-later.

Yeah, I can understand your questioning my statement. Sort of flys in the face of the "high maintenance 2-stroke" theory. Personally, I wish my top end would wear out. I would really like to try out a set of Vito's power pistons. Just can't justify the expense when everything is working so well - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" ;-)

AZ you say you wish your top end would wear out but the truth is that it may be way over due for a top end job. Compression is not the only deciding factor in when to rebuild the top end. I just finished up a top end job for a customer of mine that was reluctant top have it done because he still had 125 psi of compression, but after I explained the piston skirt wear problem and the fatigue on the piston and cylinder he agreed and that was a good thing becaause his piston was cracked in three place and was about to blow. If you are still running the stock pistons with that much compression, you are creating alot more heat and stress on them. Might be a good idea top do a top end job (I call it routine maintance) and save alot of money in the long run. Have you priced a crank for a banshee lately.

As to the question at hand my rep from maxima says that in tests that a good quality oil mixed at a 32:1 is the best for 125cc to 350cc engines.
