250r sputting
#1
What is wrong with my 250r? I have an 88 250r with Eric Gorr porting job. It has a 35mm Air Stryker carb, and aftermarket reeds. The problem that I have is that if I run the quad at low rpms for a while and then I try to rip it, it starts sputting like crazy until it clears out. From what I know it sounds like it gets choked up. I dont think is the main jet, might be the pilot.
But before I bought the A/S carb, and had a stock one and stock reeds, but with porting job, it did it alot more that it does now.
I ride at sea level. The main jet is 160 and the pilot at 40.
Any opinions?
Thanx

The pilot jet only affects the idle to 1/4 throttle. My LT after rebuilding it did the same. I raised the clip on my needle and it was fine. Do a plug check at mid and top end ranges and then go from their. any more question just ask.

I ran a 58 pilot in my Gorr motor when I had it with a 36mm PJ. Your pilot circuit is WAY too lean. Your mainjet sounds marginally lean also. When I had my R stock with just a pipe and some bolt ons, I ran a 160 main...I'd jet up until it blubbers..then bring it down until its clean
