I know two guys with '87 Banshees that have never been apart. They are, however, bone stock. One of my FL350Rs (a 350 single two stroke) that is stock has not been apart is nearly three years. It was apart then because the snorkel came off the air box and it sucked in sand.
My modified machine is on it 4th piston in a year. Hopefully, this one will last longer since I now improved the cooling system. Some of the racers rebuild after every race.
My point is, a two stroke's reliability goes down with your need to go faster.
A YZF motor does not have any more longevity than a Banshee. It is a strung out motor. When you do rebuild it, it has a lot more parts.
If you don't want to work on machines, why do you want to do an engine swap?
If you want to fly by everone you ride with, yet not have to touch the motor for years, check out www.drakart.com.
