by the way, I got the idea from Roll Design's KXF250-01 machine which utilizes a KX250 powerplant, if they can run it in cross country, why not motocross?

rhino-the only YZ motor I have heard of in a quad is the 426 4-stroke, no 2-strokes.

Is there a major difference between the 4 and 2 strokes which would make the 4 stroke hold up better? If there is, then I dont know about it, but its quite possible I suppose as I am no expert.

Also like was mentioned earlier, the Kawi GNCC team is running the KX250 motor in their bike with good results. I would think GNCC's are even tougher on a bike than GNC races.

Couple more things to think about before you get too far into this. The kickstarter on a CR is going to be tricky (kicks backwards). Also, have you thought about a pipe? No one makes one for a CR250 in a TRX, so your going to have one custom made, and those don't always work out to well. As far as the vibration, the CR would be ok if you were just shooting sand hills or drag racing the flats, but if you had to ride that thing for extended durations of time, you'd be miserable. Also, just to clarify things, a 2001 CR250 has 38-39hp, and a stock TRX has 30hp.

the 4 stroke dirtbikes are counterbalanced...thats why people are racing quads with those engines...

I didnt know that 4-strokes in bikes were counterbalanced! Why are they counterbalanced and not the 2-strokes?

doug, i'm assuming ESR is Eddie Sanders Racing, don't you guys make pipes for CR250 cylinders mated to TRX bottom ends? I just got off the web site and there is a "3 n 1" model coming out. Would'nt that pipe work well on a TRX equipped with a CR250 engine?

Yes, we have pipes for a CR cylinder on a TRX bottom end. However, when comparing CR engine to a TRX engine, you'll find that a CR is quite a bit shorter in length. The result is the CR engine will sit farther back in the TRX frame. The problem thus becomes evident when you go to bolt up your pipe, it won't "reach" the cylinder. Simply adding length to the head pipe isn't an option (it will mess up the tuning of the pipe), so a custom pipe would need to be built.
