I am in the process of writing a multi part article of a frame up restoration of an '86 TRX250R. Check it out on ATV Connection.com in the 'Dune Zone'.
Parts 1,2, and 3 are up with part 4 coming soon!

How much was the frame gusseting and powder coating from Timmy Boy designs? I am thinking of sending my frame there this winter. Good job with the article.
Thanks,
Sean

I am not sure exactly how much as it has been a long time. In the $400 range for everything.

Mike,

I also have a question in regards to the project. I am in the process of looking for some new lights from Ricky Stator. The lights you have on the 330r are what I am planning on running. How do you like them, and do you have to have the stator rewound in order to power those big boys? I am looking at running them on my 400ex and because it has a battery, I am not sure I need to have the stator rewound. Any ideas?

The lights I have are not regular lights (if you didn't notice). They are HID's. On a 400EX you shouldn't need your stator rewound to run these as they are only around 35watts each. Don't take the 35watts as small with HID's. These lights are so bright if you look directly at them then look away you will see spots just as if you looked at the light of a welder. They burn very a very bright white where as regular halogens give off a yellowish light. Anyway best thing to do is call Rick (619-449-3905) and get details from him. Be prepared to spend some cash, 2 bulbs and 2 starters (needed to get the light lit) are $500-$600. Then you need lights to mount them in etc etc. If you do a lot of night riding then these lights are the best! I have some more pic's of my light set up on my personal page, www.sandbros.com and click on Mike's Ride.
