Need help with carb problem.......stumped !

1985 Honda TRX 250 4Trax.......this quad has been sitting for 7 yrs in a garage, I just bought it, put a new battery in it, new fuel, and it started up on the 5th kick. But I noticed that fuel was coming out the back of the carb, ( the air intake) not driping but vapor, but if I put my hand over the back of the carb, it will get coated with fuel vapor. The engine seems a little noisy, (valve lash) I believe. Oil pump is working. I own street bikes, and never saw this before.
Also the manual indicates a "t" for the timing mark, and all I saw were 2 lines close together. Is this the timing mark ???

I'm suprised it ran. The orifices on the idle circuit jets are EXTREMELY small and easily gooed up with debris or gummy gas. I'd recc tearing the carb down, liberally use some carb cleaner AND(most importantly) compressed air. Dis-assy it all the way down and blow out all the orifices and especially the jets. Look thru each jet and ensure that you can see light thru them. Carbs arent as trickey as most beleive, just work slow, pay attention, and work in a clean space. Wouldnt hurt to check the air filter either.
