at loretta lynn's national this year i purchased a 2001 lonestar frame from leagacy racing. the sales woman assured me that everything on my stock 1986 250r would bolt right up. i asked her several times to be sure because she said it was a no-limk frame but would work on either way, no-limk or stock honda linkage. well i bought the frame and took it to its new home in mississippi. a few days later i called leagacy to talk with one of their tech guys. the tech guy informed me that nothing on my stock framed honda would fit on the no-link frame (swingarm, rear shock, etc...). i spoke to the manager and told him what had happened. he said for me to send the frame back and after he received the frame he would order me the right one. he said it would take approx. 8 weeks to get my new frame. i asked him about shipping and he said it would cost me about $100 bucks to ship it back to him. i told him it was not my mistake and i wanted him to pay for the shipping. he said no that it was my fault i bought the wrong frame. i asked to speak with the owner. the manager said he would charge me a 20 per cent restocking fee if i talked with the owner. i could not believe what i was hearing. i was so angry i just kept the frame and built me a new bike. by the way, special swingarm, special rear shock ( two choices pep or custom axis), custom airbox, etc....) just my experience with them, but several people i have talked with since this happened have had bad experiences with them selling the wrong part. fellow racer airtime

Legacy atv.....hahahaha....I saw that same frame at Loretta's, that woman tried to tell me the same line she told you....haha, but I know the stock stuff wouldnt work....I think she knew she was selling BS....If I were you, I would create a new thread devoted to this incident...Im sure alot of people would like to know this before they buy a frame, esp. from legacy.......I think it is scary for them (parts companies) to come here and see a thread devoted to their company....I can only imagine what tudors and magic think when this pages opens and sees their names jump out at them......Well look on the bright side, yeah you spent alot of money, but I assure you when you case that 4th gear 100ft double, you will not regret spending the money on the chassis and suspension....

You should have known better than to listen to a woman!!!

Anyway, I was just wondering what the difference is between the 2. Is the rear shock mount (on the frame) located in a different place or something?? I know that the swingarms are competely different, but never thought that the frame would be different.

there are a couple of things that differ from a stock honda frame. first the rear shock is located a little higher (you have to have a specail shock from axis or pep only) a special lonestar swingarm($600) for a axis or pep shock (different swingarm for each shock), special lonestar airbox ($375) plus to have a balanced bike you have to have your front shocks revalved to match the different wieght distibution of the lonestar frame. also the steering stem has to have the ring below the steering stem clamp removed. (steering stem sets approximately half inch lower to reduce bump steer) it's a nice frame, and it has already saved me on a large double (pep zps shocks are worth every pennie) airtime

i was told by legacy that it would interchange with my stock honda linkage. but after riding it for a little while it works pretty good on a motox track. it soaks up the big jumps like you would not believe. it does feel a little stiff on rough stuff but i think i can get that out by loosening up my shocks. airtime
