I was thinking it might be possible to convert a gas one to methanol by installing dual Dial-A-Jets as opposed to a carb that has a power jet and besides the other changes. A dual system provides 20-30% of the fuel. Combined with jetting up, it should be able to provide enough fuel.
Another cool concept with the Dial-A-Jet is to add another float and bowl that is attached to a plate of aluminum. The carb runs off gas and the second fuel bowl is connected to a small alcohol tank. The Dial-A-Jet(s) is fed from the alcohol bowl. You can cruise around on gas, but the alcohol gets added when getting on it hard. Idle for a bit and the alcohol will clear out of the engine. A picture of this.

There a few people who have figured out nitro in 2 stroke motors. Its doable for sure, but requires some excellent tuning skills, and some decent amount of pistons to get it dialed right it seems. The benefits from such are pretty nifty...PPO, propalyne oxide, is another oxygenate that can be added to methanol and is a tad tamer than nitro.
