Drag Pipes? Any Good? Where do I get them?
#2
Where do you plann on riding that would throw rocks onto them? I wouldnt recommend drag pipes unless you are ridding in the dunes or drag racing. I have Port magic pipes on my bnashee and they are awesome. They pull real hard all the way through the power band. By coming out to the sides you are able to build a pipe with more volume as well as better cone lengths and tapers. They are far supperior to in frame pipes but unless you are really high rev ported they really arent going to help you. My pipe motor combo pulls to 12,500 before falling off. Not many engines turn that many RPM's, and only those that do need drag pipes. They typically will make about 8-12hp more on topend than an inframe pipe. The more mods then the more they will make. You can get them from just about any company with the exception of Duncan and LRD. The same guy builds all of the pipes except for CPI, they have there own. The otheres are made to the companies specks by the same guy. CT,C&O,PortMagic, all use the same pipe specs. Trinity's are a little shorter in the cone lenght which gives them mor top side, but not as much mid pull. I dont like trinity, but there pipes do run rather well depending on the rider and the engine. CPI or the ct's would be a good all around choice. The ct's have built in silencers. If you have any more questions just ask.

Thanks Brandon!
I ride in Mexico along the beach, down dirt roads and in the desert. My concern is that the front wheels may pick up rocks and hit the drag pipes since the stick out so much.
To date, I haven't had any rock damage on my Paul Turners or any other parts of the frame, etc.
I have a ported/polished engine, coolhead with 18cc domes, wiseco pistons, etc.
The bike has all the stock plastic (in original condition, not trimmed) and the stock footpegs and nerf bars. Will drag pipes still fit around all of this?

You may encounter some rock problems. The tires do seem to direct everything towards the bend of the pipe. I doubt that you will be able to mount them with the nerf bars on. It sounds like drag pipes arent for what you do.
