I have a 98 Suzuki Quadrunner 500 and it is full time 4wd. I believe the newer models are selectable between 2x4 and 4x4. Where is this done - that is- in the transmission or front end?

Could the '98 be converted to selectable?

 

Check with HIGHLIFTER.COM and or Warn winch co, they are both producing a selectable unit to be mounted on specific quads to run 2 wheel drive...
