Clutch Problems
#1
alrighty... i know this doesnt have to specifically do with an ATV, but you guys might possibly know whats goin on here... I bought and installed a new clutch for my 1997 KX125 just a short while ago, and tried to ride it after installing hte clutch and letting it sit for a while (like 5 days) - the bike would just BARELY move for like a half second after i clicked it into gear and let out on the clutch... then it just acted like the clutch was still engaged... i took it apart, and i had it all put together in the correct order... but i was lacking a washer... so i found the correct size washer (atleast what i had judged to be the correct size) and then put my clutch back together... i believe theres some dirt in it because now it makes that awful "sand on diskbrakes" sound when you move the bike and its in gear... anyway - it did the same thing again... my questions are - why would it do this? is it because the plates are *seized*? (i didnt soak the friction plates in oil for very long - that might be one thing... ) and are all of the clutch plates supposed to move out when you pull in the clutch - or just a few - i counted three friction plates moving when i did it without the cover on... the three closest to the pressure plate i might add. thanks for helping

2 quick tricks for any clutch, soak the friction plates over night and rub the steel plates on the cement to scuff them up. Don't use a file or grinder on the cement.
Your clutch isn't together rite.
go to the kawi web site click on buykawasaki. In that next frame you can get to the machine diagrams, this will tell you what you did wrong.
