I was wondering how hard it would be and what I would need to do to do this convo. If I got a pipe, airfilter and the ftz carb if they even make 1 for this bike,I looked and everything at there site is Honda Or Banshee/blaster mods.I know there isnt too many speed parts for the MOhave, dont know why but I do know DIrtwheels modded a 250 or 300 ex years ago and it ran neck and neck w the 250R for the 1st 200 yards then the higher revving 250R left it by a couple of bike lengths.
What The Mohave has that the 300 or 400 or 250 Don"t have is Liquid cooling and 11.1 compression, this for alcohol is even pretty low.I dont think when dirtwheels modded the 300 it had a much higher compression ratio.Sooo what does any 1 think,or wanna give it a shot here and tell me more besides calling FTZ and asking them.I was just curious if any 1 else has played w alcohol around the 4 strokes or even 2 strokes? Some 1 at 1 of the Dirtnet told me alcohol isnt good for trail riding or MX it will give the bike fits and is made for only top end power.I know They use it in Cart,F1 IRl for the cars and NHRA uses it but I really dont know much more bout it,only that it sounds like a challenging but fun project for me.

Do you even need a different carb?

You'd have to drastically enlarge your jet- size

and also- not sure, but I think alcohol will eat rubber gaskets (accelerator pumps) and such..

Good luck

Okay- yeah, alcohol will eat you carb gaskets, but you can still run it in a gas carb if you drain it after use, as in don't let it sit in your carb for any length of time.

To set the record straight: Alky will NOT eat up gaskets, seals or carbs. Alky DOES draw moisture (condesate). This moisture will cause surface rust on bores, and can cause corrosion inside of carbs if your engine is not flushed.

The carb that will be best for your mojave is the FCR 35mm. I started with alcohol on my 273cc big bore 250x at 10:5 compression. I am now at 14.75 comp on a 410 (can't kick it over), but it will run fine with 11.1 comp.

Alky is awesome for trail riding. The engine ran extremely cool. After an hour of riding in 95 degree weather, I could remove the dipstick and the oil was only warm. I noticed my biggest power increase (on the 273 going from 110 octane torco to alky) in the idle to 3/4 throttle. The increase of torque was awesome. Alky can be bought for around 1.25 a gallon (but you burn twice as much as gas) and good race gas runs $4-6.

My dislikes: In cold temps, below 40, the engine ran so cool that it didn't make enough heat to keep the oil hot and my clutches would stick. In order to keep condesation away, your must run gas through the engine after every ride. I had a problem with this one and negleted to do it. It never caused me any troubles though. My biggest complaint is the speed at which it wears your rings and cylinder. Since you run twice as large of a jet and twice as much fuel, the rings wear twice as fast due to "washing".

Sorry, I had to cut my post short but there were a couple of other points I wanted to make.
Your jets will be almost twice the size as what you need for gas. This includes the pilot jet. A good carb is needed such as the FCR. Otherwise, you can have a sparatic air/fuel mixture. This isn't as much of a problem on four strokes, but you will like the FCR on gas also if you decide to go that route.
As for alky causing fits, its not harder to jet than gas, however, humidity and cool air affect how it runs more so than gas.
When you call FTZ ask them about the mojave that they built in the early 90's when TT racing had a 250 class (two and four stroke). They built a mojave that won many national races against 250R's. I have a friend that raced a FTZ mojave back then. He has a picture of his mojave about 2 bike lengths ahead of four 250r's after he pulled the holeshot. Mojave's are very buildable but have gotten lost in the mist of bigger motored bikes.
I am sure I will think of something else that I want to tell you but this is all I can think of right now. Hope this helps.

I just dont know why no 1 wants to give the MO any credit why is it always honda in the mags?If I ever get to build 1 Im gonna call Dirtwheels and tell em to bring down a honda and tell them the money Hondas paying them under the table to hype there stuff they can give to me when the smoke clears, cause I know I can put my money where my mouth is.J/K even tho im joking cause Ive inhaled too may premix fumes to the head,Id still let dirtwheels or 1 of the other mags test it.
