BANSHEE JETTING
#1
The mods done to my Banshee are should be at the bottom. It also has a K&N filter.Right now it has a stock needle in 3rd position, a 310 mainjet, 30 pilot jets, and air screw 1 1/2 turns out. My elevation is at about 400-700 ft. I did some plug chops today with B7ES and B8ES plugs. The 7's came out white as they were new, and the 8's, which were the ones in there, came out looking like bright rust if U kno what I mean. The main problem is that when the throttle is wide open, it runs really choppy, and I'm not sure but I think it needs bigger mains, like 330's or 340's. Has anyone else had this problem or run this jetting? Thanx.

Well, "choppy" is a hard term to decipher. I assume that you mean it sputters or maybe kind of misses???
To me that description sounds rich but with your mods, altitude and plug color it seems like you may be lean. Maybe there's something else going on besides jetting.
If you're lean it should go "flat" on top... Like it just doesn't make any more power... Also, it would get worse as the bike gets warmer.
I would say, jet up to 320/330 range and look at your plugs. B7ES is a hotter plug - stick with the B8ES. Rejet and look at your plugs. If it still runs poorly, check your plug wires and caps.

Run the B8ES plug, Close the plug gap up to .020, go to the #4 clip position on the needle, make sure the filter is not over oiled, Get rid of the airbox lid, go back to a 27.5 pilot. Now the thing will run perfect, as long as you did all the other neat things like ( sink carbs, make sure you didn't forget the choke crossover tube, and put the slides in the right carb )

Wow 380's? U must use a lot of gas.Anyways, I rejetted the carbs with 340's and it still was choppy when wide open and it lost power, and then it just died and wouldn't start again. It's got good compression (about 120lbs.) and it's gettin gas. Me and my uncle checked the kill switch, it was fine, there is no key, so it couldn't be that, no TORS, and we checked the ignition coil and got nothing so it must be bad. But could the bad coil be the problem, like a weak spark or it didn't have the resistance to hold in the charge so it misfired??? And would the coil just go bad while it was running?
