I have done this conversion and it works awesome. I even moved the front shock mounts to fit the 250R If anyone would prefer I have mine for sale. YOu can see pictures in my signature. There is a web page at www.lordsmotorsports.com Where I have posted information about the conversion. The owner of the web page also has done the conversion

I have done the same conversion only to a 89 250R. Best move I have made. The 350X motor is IMHO better than a 400ex. The extra gear alone is worth it. Make sure the chain properly lines up for true alignment.

Ride on !

Has anyone done this conversion by using the kit from Powroll? If so does the kit pretty much let the engine slide in and bolt on or do you still have to do some fabrication? Also is it hard to get the chain and everything lined up or not?

I havent used the powroll conversion kit but I have outlined the major details at the top of the post. The conversion seems to be straight foward. they supply you with the spacers If you buy the kit I have a question about the decomp cable bracket and the dimentions of the spacers. the $70 is actually for the instruction book they give you. I got some pic of mine as the install went about . as for the chain using the stock 300ex/250x swingarm the chain should line right up. I used a 350x swingarm do to the extra length and adjustable shock. any question email me at oldsw-31@attbi.com

1. Remove upper rear left motor mound bracket or grind engine to fit
2. grind 1/16 off Oil bolt in head or notch frame
3. Wiring: Switch the postion of the black/red with the Black/white in the two wire connector on the CDI side.
what is the second step in connecting the wires by the stator? there is three wires in the harness but only two wires in the red connector. any ideas

4. Exhaust either buy a POwroll or use a DG head Pipe and cut 1.5" from it
5. Decompression release use the Bracket from a XR500 that wraps around the top of the case?
6. Oil cooler relocation cut and extend tubes
