We're talking about a brand new bike, any mechanical binding should be minimal and inherent to the design.

Good thought though for a used bike.

Sometimes inside the thumb throttle itself is a spring that returns the thumb throttle even before its connected to the carb. My 86 and '88 were both like this. I took out the springs and it reduced the pull. I am not too sure about messing with the spring in the carb thought. It would not be good for your throttle to stick wide open out on the trails.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I ended up trimming a small portion of the spring (less than one turn) to reduce the initial loaded tension in the spring for the rest position. This is risky like was pointed out in this forum because the throttle might not fully close or have enough force to keep it closed when riding and you let off the gas. I will have to initially ride causcious and make sure that the throttle stays closed when it is suppossed to. If not, I can still tweak it a little more. I was able to reduce the tension by about half. There was another spring that was attached to opposite side of the throttle that I removed because it wasn't used for the DS650 - it was used to operate an accelerator pump but will flood the DS650 if it is used.

Thanks again!
