I have used PEP stabalizer on two r's and they last for about a year. This was under very hard racing conditions. While they were new they worked great. We never did blow a seal, The oil inside goes bad. When you take it off the bike it fells good, but on the bike after about 15 to 30 min of racing the oil heated up and it quit working. We are now using a Denton type stabalizer that can be adjusted and is rebuilable. If you are going to buy one get one that is rebuilabe, becaue the oil needs to be changed in it just like you change the oil in shocks.
