Anybody have any info on installing and running a nitrous kit? I already know the basics (forged piston, colder plug, and lower compression). I am looking to put it on my '85 ATC 250r drag bike. I heard that in order to power the solenoids and fuel pump you need a battery connected to the stator so the voltage won't spike down when the solenoids are activated. I know NOS makes a kit has anyone used it?

Thanks.

I am not a fan of NO2 on atv's. I have seen plenty and none ran very well. I saw one the other day that was set up by trinity. they sent him down here to compete and represent them at our drags. Well he went home with his feelings hurt. he had a trinity 500(banshee) on NO2 and he was getting wore out by 350's on alcohol. I think alcohol is much beter fuel for this application. ATV engines cannot handle the amount of charge that it takes to get the no2 to make more hp than alcohol. Usually only about a 8 hp shot is all it takes to blow head gaskets nad rui pistons. With alcohol you can get as much as 15hp. There are numerous posts on this subject within the archives. Check them out and I can answer any remaning questions.

Thanks for the advice Brandon, a friend of mine had FTZ set up a Mikuni for his 250r and he had alot of trouble tuning it so he took it off. Maybe I should borrow it from him. He has the fuel pump and everything but he could never get it to run right, always seemed too rich on top but when he jetted it down it started burning the electrode off the spark plug. If I try that how much do you think I should advance the timing over stock? Thanks again.

Just a suggestion, wedge a CR500 motor in it or at least a newer CR250 motor. Also I saw a Fourtrax 250R with a Honda Pilot cylinder and head and it is pretty reliable from what I've been told. Also what about a turbo with EFI, a company from here in Michigan has been doing them from what I've heard with good results. Email me if you need more info.

It was probably loading up and appeared to be leaning out. I had a lot of trouble getting mine set up right, but when i did....MAN! I ran 114 mains with 3 turns on the booster. You have to keep the ehngine cleaned out to. If you dont rev it to the moon and burn all teh fuel out it seems like it si way fat. You cna ride it like you do on gas.
