399 twin rotax on 79 odyssey
#1
i was playin in the shed while my mojave engine was gettin machined and i created a frankenstien monster hahaha. i had an old ski doo snomibile layin around, and an old odyssey. well without access to a welder, i had to make do. rounded up some 2x8s, cut and drilled and bolted the snomobile motor onto my odyssey. im havin some minor problems that i think some other brains could help me with. 1. the snowmobile belt drive runs a slightly wider belt than the odyssey, and this is causing some slippage problems using the snowmibile belt and odyssey final drive. 2. the belt itself is loose, is there a place to get a slightly shorter belt?i can change the angle of the engine to adjust belt tension but the range is too short to take all of the tension up(oops). 3. the snowmibile engine seems not to berunning 100%, this may be due to the fact that ive had to run an air filter on it (low restriction off of 78kz650 bike), but it also may be due to the fact that ive hade to extend the location of the "can" another 3-4 feet to the back of the odyssey, and there is now about 3-4 feet more seperate exhaust pipe before it reaches the can. i have not rejetted the carb because i am told that the old rotax engines run too lean in warm weather and overheat. the slight restriction in the intake system should make the mixture slightly richer.
any help would be great...thanks
