I thought about putting a snowmobile engine in a quad. I have a banshee, and a 440 MXZ (skidoo), and my dad a Vmax4.
Just to see if I could start my insertion job, I measured the width of both snowmobile engines, and my banshee's.
Hum.
The conclusion was predictble, but sad. The snowmobile engine are F***ing wide.
My banshee's width is approx. 16", meanwhile the 440 twin Rotax is 23" (with clutch), and the Vmax4 is a huge 32" wide (but a 4 cyl. 750cc 2 stroke quad sounds cool)...
I don't even want to imagine the handling of a VMax4 Banshee, with cyl. coming out 8" out of the tank, on each side...
Gotta think again.
Maybe separating the engine into 2 cylinders, and the clutch between...
Head fusing problems...I'm gonna ride my banshee

How about a 620cc single? Check out the modular engines on www.4x4tuff.com.

There are 2 LT 250 R with showmobile engines that run around the sand. They are drag racers/hillclimbers only.
