2005 Trailboss Backfiring

2005 Trailboss Backfiring
2005 Trailboss 330 2x4 Starts up easily,runs good.
On a day ride five to six hours it will backfire several times
six to eight times,never shuts off then,however it does shut off
when you are riding,no certain time or terrain,and it will not start
without rocking machine back and forth.
Changed battery and checked all connections.Still does it.
Any ideas??????????

First thing I would do is check the valve clearance when the engines cold (.006 intake and exhaust) Could be tight valves? If problems still exist, ignition may be breaking down when hot (stator,cdi,coil??) OPT
