850XP just dies
#11
Glad the pump solved the problem. Hopefully Airtex or Carter, etc will have replacement pump numbers for the 550 and 850 shortly for the other owners with similar problems. Seems by now Airtex should? They've had 3 years to do so.If you can find any identifying marks on the old or new pump share it with the other members. OPT

Rode Rockhouse WV this weekend and I hate to report back bad news, the dying is still there. The fuel pump assy. did not fix it. I have a HMF injector control on for the HMF muffler and that is the next suspect. That leaves sensors and the cpu. When it dyes it will idle for a few seconds then it is good to go again for an undetermined length of time, ten minutes to two hours. Have a good fuel pump assy. for sale ;-) Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks, Jerry

I removed the HMF injection control and it still does it. This POS is being difficult. I hate to purchase the CPU and that not fix it. I don't know what else it could be. Is there a number at Polaris for technical support? Thanks, Jerry

Only drawback is that you can't just purchase an ecm(cpu) and plug it in if it's an ecm problem! It has to be programmed to your individual machine by Polaris Digital Wrench! It may take having to hook it up to Digital Wrench to find the problem if you can't trace the intermittent problem to a sensor harness wiring short/broken wire which kinda sounds like what you have. Just trace all the wires from the the t map and tps sensor down into the harness for shorts, soft wires (internal breakage). Beyond this it's gets a little hard to diagnose problems on efi machines. I know you don't want to hear this, but it's better to find a "good" dealer to talk to than to contact Polaris, because that is what they they will tell you to do. OPT

Just because you disconnect the wiring doesn't mean the sensor itself can be the problem! Don't over rule the tps harness,t-map harness or the connectors themselves that could be at fault. OPT
