I bought a 96 scrambler in piecies i went to wire the cdi and it was the wrong plugs. I called the guy and he said the engine was off a polaris xplorer 400 is there any way to adapt it ?

 

Welcome! You'd have to have the wiring harness or the plug ends off the Explorer 400 harness to do this. Plus would help if you knew what year the engine was as stator/cdi connections and also modules do change over the years. Look on the recoil cover and if it still has an engine # sticker, the first two digits are the year model of the engine. This should at least help you track down the right connectors. This is the only bad think about swapping engines,you really need the harness from the donor engine and a lot of the times the major modules: cdi,regulator rectifier,etc to make a smooth transition over. I looked and the engine is a 98 and i do have the old plug off the srambler engine and it has 1 less wire and there different colors ill call and hope he hasn't scracped the old engine yet

 

Get the cdi also along with any wiring,regulator/rectifier,etc he may have left. If this is the plug end you're talking about the cdis are different!! Look at both models (96 Scrambler and 98 Explorer) under "magneto" and will show the cdis and how different they are!!Browse
